“I found the coronavirus lockdowns extremely difficult as I have no family locally and it impacted my mental health significantly.

I was put in touch with TPA and I started attending the Abney Hall walking group last year in between the lockdowns, to the point where I really looked forward to it, it became a high point of every week.

I found it really hard when we went back into the December lockdown, but the friendships I made in this group saw me through, as we motivated each other and kept in touch through the winter months. I was very happy when the group could restart as it gave me some structure to the week, something to break the monotony.

I know that I might not do that much for the other six days, but I have this on the calendar every week and it motivates me to get out and do some walking. Jade’s motivation and encouragement have made it easy to do the walk and I have built solid friendships which will hopefully last into the future. It has helped me feel less isolated, more connected to people and I always feel so much better after the walk, even in the pouring rain!”
