Jon

Jon was living with his brother and sister in law and was receiving treatment for cancer.

At the time he got in touch with the TPA Jon was very lonely as his sister in law was in abroad visiting family, and his brother works full time. Jon was finding walking any distance difficult and had no transport of his own. Jon missed attending a mosque and had no opportunities to meet new people or socialise. Jon had access to his brother’s laptop but lacked the digital skills to use it, and English was not his first language. Jon and his family wanted to move to Oldham where they know more people there.

The TPA encouraged Jon to attend a community group, and helped him to get a bus pass so that he could use public transport to get there. Jon was linked in with ‘The Squad’ – a weekly social group for men where he made new friends. A TPA Community Connector has encouraged Jon to attend other groups in his community.

Jon is feeling less isolated since he started working with the TPA as he is getting out in his community and meeting new people.
