Read Easy – Could you help with adult literacy?

Around 2.4 million adults in the UK have issues with literacy, around 5% of the population. We are the only country in the developed world where literacy is worse among younger people than older ones.

Read Easy is a voluntary project designed to support adults with their reading by providing a curriculum aimed at adults, a quiet safe space to practice their reading and a team of volunteers to mentor them.

The project in Stockport is at Pioneer stage, this means that the group is still in the process of recruiting a management team and volunteers to take the project forwards.

If you would like to be involved, either managing the project in Stockport or supporting learners with their literacy, please contact Bill Quinn on 07866 778 208 or stockport@readeasy.org.uk
