Rosie’s Friendship Group win award at Community Pitch Event

Rosies Friendship Group in Marple, started by our TPA People Helping People Team,  has been running for the last 18 months as a place where people can come and meet weekly, develop relationships and plan social events together. It’s been a lifeline for people who have, due to illness, lack of transport or other circumstances found themselves socially isolated or unable to access leisure activities in their local area.

In July this year, Equity and Disability Stockport hosted a community pitch event at The Space in central Stockport where local groups could make presentations in an attempt to win money for events, outing or towards their running costs.

David and Lesley, two regular attendees at Rosie’s made a pitch for money to pay for an outing and refreshments and won £200 to pay for a trip on New Horizons and to pay for tea and coffee at Rosie’s for the next year. In their presentation, they emphasised the value of Rosie’s to them in helping them to get out of the house and take a proactive role in organising the kind of activities that they get the most out of.
